Z Drop

<t>I searched through the forums and found nothing exactly on this topic. What is the Z-Drop of a bond and how is it calculated. Once one has the results of doing the z-drop; what do the answers mean - how can they be interpreted?I have seen it used mostly in reference to ABS's. Is this the norm or ...

any VBA books ?

<t>I have read somewhere in these forums (but cant find it now) that VBA can be used to extract data from Bloomberg. I am beginning an internship where I will have the chance to use bloomberg, and would like an overview of how to use VBA with it, should that possibility exist. Any thoughts on where ...

Help!! - Georgia Tech vs ISMA Centre??

<t>I think I missed the ad hominem strictures, too bad.Anyway, since there has been much discussion on Tech, I will weigh in with my thoughts. I am a current student who worked for several years before returning to school.1. Academically, top notch school. No questions about that. Tech is consistent...

CMU/NYU Fall 2004

<t>Zooey and all - COngrats on your individual acceptances. As far as Tech goes - there are two level of acceptances, one by the QCF program, and one by the home unit. The home unit is more or less a rubber stamp - but they do need to weigh in on your application. But, if the director has recommende...

Vote for your favourite or most hated headhunter

I have used analytic to find jobs - and have had several good offers - as have my friends. That said,I was looking for analytic jobs in the credit card/consumer loan world. I haven't dealt much with the 'securities'side of the firm.

Georgia Tech

<t>There are some other forum topics that deal with this - so make sure to search for those. I will say that - this program is about 4 yrs old - and prior to this year most of the students were getting other degrees at Tech - so there isn't much data about placement (as most were placed by their oth...

What makes people from a non-business background choose to study graduate level quant?

<t>Well,I am in a quant program in the US and several guys here are from the business world. Most of us have taken night classes in math/programming for the years prior to entrance. To boot, we were making good money in previous jobs, in nice buildings, while wearing suits, so from my observations r...

MS finance at IIT Chicago

So true, so true. The program has sunk a bunch of money into placement this year, recognizing that it is the biggest 'opportunity' here. Everyone watch out!

Please give some advices on choosing MSFE program

I am at Tech now. It's a young placement, and for the last couple of years most folks went onto PhDs or did the program part time and stayed with their original employer.Hope this helps

Convincing Profs at an MS program that you can do Math

<t>Vikram,I just started the Georgia Tech program - and my math background barely met the standards of admission. Couple things to keep in mind:1. Most schools have min reqt's - make sure you have met these, otherwise you will most likely be rejected out of hand.2. Most schools turn down applicants ...

got job via analytic recruiting?

I, too, have had good experiences with them. Never took a job from them, but always got interviews. As a caveat, my skills are in the Credit Card world, not market risk management.
