<t>What sort of assets does the fund manage? What are their fees? What role does your friend play?Firm track record relative to peers? Is there a fund lockup?Typically MM firms are valued according to AUM/fees they can produce(fixed mutual fund would sell for less relative to a equity based mutual fund...

Where do they all go?

<t>Hmmm... That would explain the salespeople at Bloomberg, CapitalIQ, Thomson, Merril, and about every other vendor we use. Might be a reason they crashed out of their banking roles (can't sell, don't understand their customer, waste time, don't listen or ask intelligent questions). But that's neit...

Where do they all go?

Was curious where all the Analyst and Associates go if they don't cut it in Investment Banking. I have come across one or two who went over to Corp Dev (usually with a big chip on their shoulder), and I know one guy who decided to join the peace corp, but there should be more out there.

Good Christmas Goofs anyone?

<t>So I was sitting at my desk today trying to bang out a pitch book before the world shuts down for December, when I heard swearing that would make a sailor wince coming from the head of our department’s office. Out stormed one of our MD who proceeded to his office for another round of door slammin...

Why are quant/trading salaries that high????

Why get a PhD and work at an I-Bank as a quant, when one can just get an BA( or and MBA) and make more in M&A in less time?

M&A Interview

<t>Imadummy is right on - M&A can be great, but its also a lot of work.I've been an Analyst for a little over a year, learned more in my first 2 months than a whole year spent at school. I have also given up the idea of planning anything on weekends (work 4 outta 5 weekends), have gotten fairly ...

References - what to do

Hypothetical question...What does one do when interviweing for a position and they ask for references/to talk with your current employer - who would be seriously pissed off if they knew you were interviewing somewhere else.

M&A Interview

<t>Know your valuation techniques- Comps, Pre-Acqs, DCF, LBO, General M&AOne important thing to remember about M&A is that is more about personality and team fit (in my opinion), than almost any other role that you will find at an Investment Bank. You need to have a good combination of techn...
