<t>I know a colleague who was on sabbatical in the buy side two years ago. He is very good at making money. While he managed to hit the p&l target, he decided to go on holiday for more than half a year. Then he came back and made even more money. There are some other companies who will sponsor y...

<t>How will you the hiring managers see this situation:Due to multiple company issues, the very senior management decided to close our desk. I am a prop trader and have been doing speculative buy / sell on the short term commodities for nearly 4 years. Before that I came from banking IT & quant ...

Moving on / Job switching from trading career

<t>How often do you need to make a switch during your trading career? I have been a junior "foot soldier" trading physical commodities for 3 years and feel like I am not learning anything anymore. Obviously anyone of you are in your job for three years then you will probably get bored as well. My co...

Go Short in Pension Fund

<t>I agree that pension / mutual fund managers will "try" to do something to maximise my portfolio. However, when I look closely at the chart for the past few years, the fact is that they simply have the shape as the equity / property index. i.e. equity pension fund lost big time 2008 and 2009, then...

Go Short in Pension Fund

<t>Hi,When I look at the UK pension fund system, I think there is a flaw fundamentally in the term "investing". Pension fund managers always go long which is good only if there is a clear up trend. However in a bearish scenario they still keep going long. Imagine if one day the bullish up trend in t...

<t>There are a few examples around that university drop-out became high flyers but seriously how many from the total dropout population became famous? Regression for Demand vs Prices

<t>Hi,I would like to do a regression for demand numbers vs the prices. Obviously if demand goes up so does the prices for certain commodities. Why The Ones Who Have Bad Grades Are Often The Ones Who Are Most Successful

<t>The article tries to convince readers believing that unable to score A in exam does not mean anything and then uses Bill Gates and Richard Branson as exception and concluded that having "bad grades are often the ones who are most successfully"The conclusion is highly misleading and bias as we all...

Decision - graduate role or Msc?

What if you fail to get a proper role after finishing your MSc? You can always move around after you have some FO experience under your belt anyway. For any recent graduate it is always good to open your eye wide and explore other potential opportunities
