Lets put it this way, if you are the top guy at your shop with a few decent accounts then you earn probably a tad more than the average trader in the market. The enviornment is extremely competitive - you get a pretty pathetic base salary...

<t>I don't think it matters.Lets say you're applying to UBS. They shouldn't be surprised at all if you also happen to be applying to Merrills. In fact HR persons will most likely ask if you have applied to other banks during interviews. It gives them an idea of how well the firm is regarded by stude...

<t>For HR, having a MBA means:1. You have an extra qualification2. You had some work experience3. You successfully went through the MBA candidate selection process (done by another institution)So HR regard someone with MBA as a safer bet at someone without one.For the candidate, what they gain from ...

Career Advice: IIM-C, Management consultin .. want to move in finance

<t>I banking (i.e. M&A/corporate finance) is very different to trading/capital markets when it comes to skills requirements. So you cannot just assume you can enter a programme (and select a few courses) and expect employers to view your applications favourably from these 2 areas. In general corp...

Forgot to mention a delta hedger who runs short gamma earns time decay. To see why think of a long gamma position. You're expected to make money from delta hedging so there's a cost to it (there's no free lunch).

<t>The only fact you know is that you didn't get the job. It was the first round interview so how much did those 'other people' in the company know about you? The person might have discriminated against you. He might have found a better candidate. Or may be he simply thought you were not good enough...
