Chris Hunter new book on Hybrid derivatives ?

Amazon put it down as being ready for mid April 2007. I've never seen a book actually available on the intended publication date though - takes time to get stuff through warehouses, even with just-in-time delivery

any quant finance in belgium

<t>You're likely to be better off in Amsterdam if you want to stay in the Benelux. There might also be some interesting hedge funds in Luxembourg. Don't know that much about ING, but as the N stands for Nederland, I'd be surprised if Belgium is their quant hub. It's possible that some large pension ...

King's College, London

<t>I'm currently working at a large inv bank in London, and have been offered a place to do a part-time MSc in Fin Maths at King's. Are there any current or former students of this course who are doing / did it on a *part-time* basis, who would be happy to answer a few questions ? If there are, woul...

What to wear to an interview at JP Morgan NY

<t>I don't know about JPMC's shop in NY, but the trading floors in London are very much smart casual - or whatever it's called now. Some wear chinos, some wear suits without tiesHowever for an interview (assuming you're male), there is only one answer as to what to wear - a smart suit with a tie. If...

CFA exam today

Scores don't expire per se, but if you want to do Levels 2 or 3, and it's been 7 years since you passed the most recent paper, then you're back to square one, and have to resit Level 1 again. I might have got the exact wording of this wrong - check the CFA handbook for the precise details....

Trade Capture

<t>I'm currently at a Tier 1 bank that's very strong on credit derivatives From previous roles I've several years interest rates quant dev experience along with an MSc, but have recently been put onto a team creating a CDO trade capture / workflow Excel + Sybase system for a minimum of 12 months. No...

LloydsTSB

<t>For years the Chair / CEO of Lloyds loathed the idea of being an investment bank - the whole culture just put them off. Instead, they decided to be a retail bank, and in the mid to late 1990s, they were really rather good at it and made a shed load of money from the High StreetThey do have a few ...

MFE + Law ?

<t>This is a little off topic, compared to the standard question about which is the best MFE course in the universe, but...To be a hard-core quant, if you haven't got a PhD, you need an awful lot of luck. However, the structured products side of things, does require some element of legal skills. If y...

CFA L1 Standards of Practice Handbook

<t>Ethics according to CFA Institute is not necessarily the same as what a bank might describe as ethics. In the Level 1 exam in Dec 2005, there was a question about someone who was a CFA charterholder, but was now retired and no longer paying annual fees to CFA Institute. What would be the correct d...

I know Said Bus School isn't on a par with Harvard's, but I thought Oxford was a proper university. Guess they must really need the cash !

Apply for JPMorgan's jobs online.

<t>The jobs posted on JPM's website are mainly genuine jobs - although it's worth being aware that sometimes when a role gets filled, the hiring manager may forget to remove it from the website - or budgets change and the hiring manager is no longer interested in hiring what he or she originally adv...

anyone has experience for interview with BGI

The softer skills thing is important to them - don't expect to see anyone outside HR until 2nd round (unless they've completely changed their approach since 18 months ago)

the eBay CFA notes seller?

<t>I don't wish to be harsh, but if you're thinking of doing the CFA for career reasons, then it's probably worth spending a bit of money to ensure that you're gonna pass first time round, rather than at the 3rd attempt. Spend the extra 200 or 300 quid that Stella, Schweser or BPP want, compared to ...

Excel control from Java

<t>The division of the bank in which I work have set a policy that frowns very heavily on the use of C#, strongly encouraging that all developers use only Java instead - although things like Sybase are of course allowed. VBA is also still allowed, but MS are gradually reducing support for it, in fav...
