MFE moving to a traditional finance role???

Well according to my friend at Berkeley, he passed CFA level II and III because what he learned at MFE. Believe it or not, except for the economics and financial statement/accounting part, everything else is highly correlated with CFA curriculum.

I recently met a MFE. He is from top school and is out of work. He told me there are lot of MFEs are currently looking. A lot of MFEs used to have good stable jobs, but now are jobless. MFE is the curse of many people's career. Is that true?

Still a market for a masters in quantatative finance?

If I have a MFE and worked in software company like Microsoft. I recently worked in banking IT and really hate it. What is my job prospects outside of banking? I certainly want to get something out of my MFE? Maybe financial software industry?
